Oratorio & Chamber Choirs - programme |
Concert in New YorkThe Addison Singers Oratorio Choir was invited by its President, the eminent composer and conductor Bob Chilcott, to join choirs from the US at a performance he conducted at the Carnegie Hall, New York on 20 November 2005. About fifty members of the choir flew out to the US for the occasion. The programme included Bob Chilcott's 'Jubilate', which the choir sang in the summer of 2005, and Handel's Coronation Anthem 'The King Shall Rejoice', which featured in the choir's winter concert. The Addisons were joined by three small US choral groups and the New England Chamber Orchestra, under the management of MidAmerica Productions, whose Director described the performance as 'thrilling'. Bob Chilcott was impressed with the way the Addisons responded to the experience: 'Just in the short time we had, the choir grew … and gave a superb performance … their energy was palpable'. He was also delighted with the performance given to his own work, Jubilate, and 'was touched by the commitment and warmth that they gave in this piece'.
