The full programme

Two Cuban Dances - Lionel Sainsbury (1991). Originally a solo piece, he composed this at the suggestion of the French pianist François Doublier. It was premiered in France by Christopher Black and Yoko Katayama in the spectacular setting of the Eglise de Beynac, as part of the 1998 Nuits Musicales de Beynac-en-Périgord.
Mother Goose Suite - Maurice Ravel (1908) He wrote this, 'Ma mère l'oye', for the two Godebski children whose parents he was friends with, in a four-hand suite for solo piano.
16 Waltzes op39 - Johannes Brahms (1865) This is a set of 16 short waltzes for piano four hands dedicated to Eduard Hanslick, a bibliographer and music teacher from Prague, who was one of the first widely influential music critics.
Trois Epigraphes Antiques - Achille-Claude Debussy (1914) These are actually a reworking of incidental music Debussy wrote for a single performance of 12 of Louÿs' Chansons de Bilitis'.As with music originally intended to accompany a theatrical presentation, they are highly atmospheric.
Fantasie in F minor - Franz Schubert (1828) Composed in the last year of his life he dedicated it to his pupil, Karoline Esterházy, with whom he was in unrequited love. It has been characterized as his most original compositions for piano duet.
Palm Court Waltz - Lennox Berkeley (1971) an English composer. This was commissioned by and dedicated to Burnet Pavitt and in this year he was awarded the Composer of the Year by Composer's Guild of Great Britain.
